Overall, it was a pretty sub-par experience. The waitresses were friendly and the atmosphere was decent, but the long wait for much-less-than-great food took away vastly from my visit. The bill was also extremely disproportionate to the portion sizes, quality, and wait time.

Great atmosphere, awesome view! The service was great and the food was amazing! I had the JD burger and onion rings and it was absolutely delicious!

Extremely slow but friendly service. My group ordered the cheese ponchos, which are essentially fried potato waffles drizzled in cheese. The appetizer was tasty, but the portion size left something to be desired.

Popular entertaiment spot on weekends. Many special events through out the year. Riverfront location in small farming town of Grindrod.

The burger took forever to arrive, it was dry as hell, and the bacon was way too salty (and I love salty food)! When it finally arrived, the waitress told me "they accidentally gave you half fries half salad, but don't worry, no extra charge!" instead of "sorry, do you want the other half if your fries?". Obviously, this is the only place around, and the view and location keeps a steady stream of unknowing victims... if you have to, go for it, but do not expect quality food or good service...

I ended up getting the dinner special, which happened to be steak and prawns. My entire group got their food before I did due to a mixup with the servers.

The potatoes were a bit dry, with the gravy being the saving grace.

I asked for medium rare, but it was more like medium to medium well. The steak was nearly flavourless with very little seasoning. Its texture was spongy and reminiscent of dirt - as if it had been sitting out in a pale of water for a few days. Yuck.

Good for a pint but not much else.

The vegetables included broccoli and carrots, and the broccoli was overcooked. With nothing to dip them in other than the gravy from the mashed potatoes, I ended up leaving most of them on the plate.

This is one of my wife and I's favourite places. My wife attends the Ukrainian Catholic Church so we go to the pub after services quite often. I am not much of a church goer but I am definitely a Grindrod Pub goer. Today we went because it was my wife's 62nd birthday and they offer free birthday wings. We were shocked when they delivered 62 wings. There is no way that two people can eat 62 wings. They were delicious by the way. We have never had anything but good experiences at this pub and it is hard to beat their location right on the river. Make the trip, it's worth it.

The prawns were basically shrimp, and the dish included a single skewer of them. They were overcooked and under-seasoned.

    The carrots were acceptable.
